Our Visit to the Crayola Experience in Easton, PA

Disclosure: I received complimentary tickets to the Crayola Experience for me and my family.  My opinions are my own and I was not paid or required to write this review.

As some of my readers know, I’m from the East Coast, Pennsylvania to be exact, and all of my family still resides there, so we get to visit often.  Recently we took a trip back to visit and I was excited to take my children to the Crayola Experience which has been completely renovated since the last time I made a trip there about 5 years ago.

The Crayola company of Easton, Pennsylvania makes a wide range of products these days, including their most popular product, crayons. The Crayola company didn’t invent crayons or dustless chalk, but they were the first company to produce a box of eight multi-colored wax crayons and offer them to the public in 1903.

Crayola Experience is located just a short drive from where Crayola crayons are made and is a family attraction filled with fun things to do with kids of all ages.  There are 28 hands-on attractions inside making it an action-packed and fun-filled day for the family.

Crayola Experience takes about 3-4 hours to complete as there is so much to do and so much fun to be had!  With 4 floors of attractions you definitely want to give yourself lots of time.

Of those 28 attractions I want to highlight our top 5 favorites from our visit:

1. Modeling Madness– Here is where you’re able to sculpt colorful creations using Crayola Model Magic.  This was the first time I actually used Model Magic and it was so much fun to roll it, mold it and create with it. They also have Model Magic accessories on hand and we made some fun flowers to bring home for the Grandparents.

2. Paint Palette –  Here they feature a “cut, color, and paste” project and for us it was making a faux camera and movie props. It was a ton of fun to create here and continue to use our imagination at home with the items that we took with us.

3. Water Works –  This is such a one of a kind 85-foot water table attraction where you can splash through a working lock and canal system.  You can also work the levys, and take in the sights of Crayonopolis.  Like most kids my daughter loves water play and really enjoyed learning about the canals and playing with the boats.

4. Wrap it Up! – Making a crayon with your name on it is about the coolest thing ever.  At Wrap It Up! you get to create your own unique Crayola crayon and personalize and print an authentic Crayola crayon label for it.  This is so cool and after wrapping it up you can take it home. We all really enjoyed this part of the Experience and all took home crayons in different colors and named them after ourselves.

5. Drip Art – For some reason we all couldn’t get enough of this attraction.  The drip art reminded me of spin art we used to do as a kid only with this you add crayons into the machine, watch it melt and drip crayon wax onto your paper as it spins.  The designs were so much fun and you were able to control how fast or how slow you wanted the wax to drip onto the paper. We all brought home drip art masterpieces.

One of our other favorite things to see was the world’s largest crayon!

My family stayed about 3 and half hours and felt we could have stayed a little longer, but we had an hour long ride home and our tummy’s were starting to grumble for dinner.
