Non-Food Christmas Advent Calendars for Kids 2017 – Great for Kids with Food Allergies

It’s that time of the year!  The advent calendars are on the shelves and so many of them contain chocolates or candies.  I love the idea of having an advent calendar, but a calendar with chocolate or candies isn’t one that would work for us due to food allergies.  Plus, my daughter doesn’t get much chocolate or candies, so having one that gives her a piece a day for 24 days is a too much for us.

If you aren’t sure what an advent calendar is, it is a special calendar used to count the days of Advent in anticipation of Christmas. Since the date of the First Sunday of advent varies, falling between November 27 and December 3, many advent calendars often begin on December 1.

Last year I did a new book a day for 24 days and my daughter loved it, but it was quite pricey to do this and we are quickly running out of space on our shelves for more books!  Since I wanted to do something different this year I decided to look at the many options available that my daughter would enjoy!  Since I was doing all the research myself I figured I should share a round-up of the best advent calendars on the market this year.  I have broken them out into two categories – 1) Toddlers & Young Children and 2) Ages 5+.
