Master Bedroom Upcycle Challenge Room Reveal

We wrapped up the Upcycle Challenge with Restore Montco and Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County on Tuesday evening with a V.I.P. open house which included wine and hot d’oeuvres.  There was a wonderful turnout for both of the house tours and on Tuesday evening my Mom and I walked away taking first place in the Challenge!   We were on pins and needles for the last few weeks and after the last home tour we thought first place could have really gone to any of the contestants.

With no formal design training my Mom and I are so honored to take first place, we put a lot of time and effort into this challenge and we are really proud with how our master bedroom took shape using over 95% of items from thrift stores and staying well within our $500 budget.

If you’ve been following along with us during the Challenge (which started March 8th), you’ll know that we have been turning many, many pieces from trash into treasure –  32 items to be exact – and I’ve added some of the links below the photos for the tutorials I’ve posted about.  There are still many more before and afters and tutorials I am working on – so stay tuned to the blog to learn how you can transform your own thrifted pieces too!

{In case you missed the blank slate we started with, you can see those photos here.}

Without further adieu, we are excited to share with you are final master bedroom photos:

The challenge was to create a Pinterest-worthy room and  we definitely think we brought our “A” game to the table, and did just that!  What do you think?  Is this a room that you like for yourself or are there items you could see yourself mixing into your own home?

Love, Kate
