Kiss Freely Face Paint – The “Not So Scary” Alternative – Review & Giveaway

Disclosure: I received these products for free from Kiss Freely to use as a giveaway. My opinions are my own and I was not paid or required to write this review or host this giveaway.

I follow Kiss Freely on social media and was so excited to see them come out with a face paint just in time for Halloween.  If you haven’t heard of Kiss Freely, they are a top 8 allergen free, as well as free from other potential common allergens, beauty products company.

In the past I have reviewed their products and I still have and use the two lipsticks that they were so kind to send to me, so I knew I had to give their new face paint a try as well, and they are also partnering with me to give away a package of their face paint too (so make sure to enter to win via the Rafflecopter at the end of this post,) and providing a 20% off discount code for my readers too (check out the details at the bottom of this post.)

When I find out about that face and told my daughter about it, she was so excited!  Over the weekend we went to a fall festival and they had two face painting booths, and she really wanted to get her face painted.  Since she has food allergies and very sensitive skin we rarely allow her to get her face painted at events like these (sometimes I take a deep breath and allow it on rare occasions.)  We get so nervous about the chemicals and ingredients used in these products that we almost always so no to having her face (or arm) painted.  With the new Kiss Freely face paint we can now say “yes” and have a safe and trusted method to have her face painted.

Since we said no to the face paint at the festival when we got home she was jumping up and down to see the package on the front porch with the new Kiss Freely face paint .  It was packaged so nicely and we couldn’t wait to see the colors included!

Before I get into revealing the colors and our painted faces (yes I painted mine as well,) I wanted to touch on one thing I learned in researching face paints.   Since they are not intended to be ingested, under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, they (and their non-color additive ingredients) do not require FDA approval before they go to market.  This is scary and the result is that many face paints sold for children contain known carcinogens and other toxins that can be accidentally ingested or absorbed through your child’s (or your) skin.

Kiss Freely face paint is free from these carcinogens and other toxins, making it the “Not So Scary” alternative to these other brands and products.

I was so interested in learning more and through additional research and a report by The Campaign For Safe Cosmetics it was found that traces of heavy metals such as lead, nickel, cobalt, and chromium contaminating the artificial color additives are used in all the Halloween face paint brands that they tested (Kiss Freely was not in this report.)

If you want to use face paints this Halloween, without risking unnecessary chemical exposure for you or your kids, finding a face paint like Kiss Freely is the way to go.

Kiss Freely face paint is free from lead, nickel, cobalt, chromium, formaldehyde, phthalates, paragons, dioxins, and other petroleum-derived products.  It is also free of all the t0p 8 allergens plus many other common allergens, including sunflower, peas, corn, coconut, and sesame.  It is non-toxic and contains no hidden chemicals.

I love that Kiss Freely is open about what is and isn’t included in their face paint, and how serious they take allergies.

Now for the big reveal!  The Kiss Freely face paint pack includes 6 colors of face paint: green, blue, yellow, red, white, and black and retails for $19.99.  They also can do custom orders of any color that you want, for $4.99 per color.

The face paint is a cream, and the pack also includes three paint brushes and two sponges to help with application.

Kiss Freely also carries a wide-range of other personal products from body butter, lip glosses, eye shadow, mineral foundation, face serum, blush, and more.  You can view their entire product line and purchase Kiss Freely online

The colors in the face paint set are really vibrant and feel so smooth.  Applying the face paint was easy to do with the brushes and sponges that are included within the pack.  In the below photo you can see that I am applying the teal color (one of the custom colors that you can order,) to my daughters face.  I also received a custom order of “Ariel” purple so that I could match my daughters Ariel mermaid dress.  The colors are just beautiful.

If you aren’t an artist or not sure where to start with face painting, I found it best to look up tutorials online or photos online as a guide.  My daughter picked out a photo of how she wanted her face to look, and while it was much much better in the photo my daughter still loved it and the flaws in my face painting didn’t matter to her.  She was just happy to have her face painted, to dress the part, and to pretend she was a real mermaid.

My daughter was really excited to have her face painted.  And while I need a couple more practice rounds to perfect my design she didn’t seem to mind at all.

Once the face paint dries, it lays really nice on the skin and provides vibrant colors.  It’s not dry, flaky or sticky.

I even got into the fun of things and added some make-up to complete my Ursula costume.  I also could use a little more work on the neatness of things, but just like my daughter I didn’t seem to mind and had a lot of fun getting truly into character.

See, told you I was having fun!  Complete with my DIY Ursula costume, earrings and necklace, I can’t wait to get back in costume for an event at the zoo later this month, and for me to design our faces even better.

Kiss Freely face paint is a product that you’ll feel safe using on you and your family too.  It’s the “Not So Scary” alternative to other toxic face paints.

You can purchase this all natural, allergen free face paint directly on the Kiss Freely website.  The owners were also so kind to share a coupon code just for my readers and you can get 20% off your face paint order using the code BBKFP20 during checkout.
