Kind is Cool – Random Acts of Kindness Day

Disclosure: I received some of these products for free from Oriental Trading. My opinions are my own and I was not paid or required to write this post.

National Random Acts of Kindness Day is celebrated this Saturday, February 17th and has grown in popularity each year.  It is celebrated by individuals, groups and organizations nationwide to encourage acts of kindness.

If you are new to the blog, you may not know that I have a daughter with life threatening food allergies, and we decided to “celebrate” this day this year by spreading awareness and encouraging being bully free.  Because being “kind is cool” as I like to say.

With the help of Oriental Trading we were are able to share the day and what it means to us with others.

I created little bundles of items to give out to her my daughters classmates.  While they are young and may not fully understand what being a bully is, I found that there are ways to relate it to them at a younger age (ages 4 and 5).

Bullying is a difficult issue in today’s classrooms and Oriental Trading carries some items that can help initiate the conversation and teach students.

The anti-bullying workbooks and pencils are one of the ways.  The workbooks are a great way to introduce some of the terms such as bullying, and being a buddy.  The pencils act as a great way for students to remember to be a buddy, and not a bully.

If your child is like most children then they also love stickers and help encourage students to take a stand against bullying.

Since I’m passionate about food allergies I wanted to share some additional items that are great for spreading anti-bullying awareness and our theme of “kind is cool” with regard to allergies.  Teal is the color of food allergy awareness and these ducks are just perfect for the littles too.

As an advocate for allergy awareness I also picked up some of these teal ribbon heart pins.  I love that I can add these onto my jacket and it sparks a conversation when others ask what the teal ribbon means.  This is a great way to talk about awareness and anti-bullying with parents too.

Oriental Trading also has some great mini pens – and these are perfect for parents to keep in their purse.

How are you celebrating Random Acts of Kindness Day?  Check out Oriental Trading to pick up some items for this day and help to spread some kindness, because “kind is cool!”
