Disclosure: I applied to participate in the Golden Girl Granola and received Golden Girl Granola for free. My opinions are my own and I was not paid or required to write this review or create this recipe.
I recently discovered Golden Girl Granola on a whim… searching the ‘net for something completely unrelated and bam, there it was, and in big words I saw Blogger Recipe Challenge. “Have a recipe that’s easy to recreate, great for families, delicious, and of course, original and inventive?!
Enter our challenge today!”
Game on! By entering their challenge, I agreed to create a dessert recipe using one of their granola varieties…. and I am so in love with the recipe I came up with: (Slow Cooker) Home Sweet Honey Peach Granola Crumble. Easy to make, full of amazing flavor and texture, and a dessert (especially when topped with your favorite ice cream,) that is perfect for the warm summer months. And it’s wheat, peanut, nut, egg, and dairy free!
But before getting to this delicious recipe I want to share a little bit more about Golden Girl Granola.
Golden Girl Granola is a family granola business based in Shirley, MA. They make and sell loose granola in 14oz and 3oz bags and sell primarily in New England area stores and also online on their site. They take great pride in their emphasis on local products made by hand with the highest quality ingredients.
There are 7 varieties of Golden Girl granola that they make: Blueberry, Chocolate Decadence, Creative Cranberry, Forest Maple, Home Sweet Honey, Original, and Truly Tropical, for this challenge I chose the Home Sweet Honey. As a beekeeper, I love anything and everything with honey, so I knew this would be my perfect match! Here’s a look at their line-up of products:
They say their customers tell them it’s the best granola they’ve ever tasted – and they aren’t lying. This stuff is really good, like, really, really good. When I was sent the Home Sweet Honey granola for the challenge it kept calling my name, and when I finally tasted it I was hooked, and addicted. I had to be careful not to eat the entire bag all at once and save some for the recipe, which I somehow managed to do.
Since peaches are in such abundance during the Summer I really wanted to create a recipe that was both easy to make and fitting for the season. I’ve been using the slow cooker a lot these days, and this was the perfect combination for a simple and super tasty dessert!
I loved how the Home Sweet Honey granola really brought out the flavors of the fresh Summer peaches.
Topped with or without ice cream, this dessert is sure to please.
And one more thing before I get to the recipe I wanted to share some information with you for those of you with allergies:
-Golden Girl Granolas kitchen is wheat-free. Oats do not naturally contain gluten, but may become cross-contaminated in the processing facilities before they reach them.
-Golden Girl Granola uses almonds, cashews and coconut in their granolas. None of the products contain peanuts.
-Golden Girl Granola shares a kitchen with another bakery and they make cookies that have Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups in them, but the granola never comes in contact with the cookies. They are not baked in the same pans or oven, nor are the PB Cups stored near any of our ingredients. For those that are extremely sensitive to peanuts they would advise caution, but otherwise there should be no risk.
-Golden Girl Granola is in the process of rolling out new packaging, which should happen within the month, and the chocolate in the Chocolate Decadence will be Guittard 63% bittersweet chocolate (ingredients: unsweetened chocolate, sugar, soy lecithin, vanilla).
I hope you give this recipe a try… and give Golden Girl Granola a try… it really is one of the best granolas that I have tasted. If you aren’t in the New England area you can order directly via their online store.
