Food Allergies & Trick or Treating at Mickey’s Halloween Party – Walt Disney World and Disneyland

This year, and as they have done in the past, Walt Disney World and Disneyland are offering allergy-friendly offerings and trick or treating fun for kiddos and adults alike. It also gives kids with special dietary needs a way to enjoy the trick or treating fun.

Walt Disney World and Disneyland seem to go about the allergy-friendly options a little differently so I will go into both of them separately below:

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party takes place in Magic Kingdom on on select nights from August 17 to October 31, 2018, and a special ticket is required.

Guests with food allergies can get a special teal bag that will designate them as having an allergy (teal is the color that represents food allergy awareness).  These are available at any treat location and at the official Allergy-Friendly Centers located at Town Square Theater (near Tony’s Town Square Restaurant on Main Street, U.S.A.) and Liberty Square Ticket Office (near The Hall of Presidents in Liberty Square).
When you trick-or-treat with your teal bag, Cast Members will give you a teal token at any treat station. Later on, you can redeem your teal tokens at the Allergy-Friendly Centers to receive your special treats!

Here are the official instructions as they appear in the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Map:

Mickey’s Halloween Party

According to the Disneyland website there will be allergy-friendly options throughout the park if you have tickets for and are attending Mickey’s Halloween Party happening on select nights from September 19 to October 31, 2018! .  (No costume required.)

At the start of Mickey’s Halloween Party, you’ll be handed a small souvenir treat bag collect your treats in. Once inside, you use a special map or the Disneyland app and follow along designated Treat Trails to locate the various trick-or-treat stations and pick-up your Halloween sweets.

Allergy-friendly and sugar-free treats (along with a list of ingredients) will be available upon request at the following treat trails: Star Wars Launch Bay, Matterhorn Bobsleds, Fantasyland Theatre, Pixie Hollow, Big Thunder Trail, Rivers of America, Hungry Bear Dock and Critter Country.

Disneyland Cast Members at each location can assist with the requests.

They do say that “selections may vary and are available while supplies last. Allergy-friendly offerings are reliant on supplier ingredient labels and they cannot guarantee the accuracy of each food item’s contents. Allergen advisory statements (i.e., “may contain”) are not regulated and therefore not taken into consideration when developing allergy-friendly offerings. It is ultimately up to each Guest’s discretion to make informed choices based upon individual dietary needs.”

Happy (safe) Halloween!
