Five Things {Weekly Link-Up Party} – Cecelia Ahern

I keep seeing many posts on social media this week about both the book and the movie, The Fault in Our Stars, and my husband and I have a running joke that if it’s a book that I love then it will probably be made into a movie.  It’s not true that all of the books I’ve read have been turned into movies, but it sure does feel like most of my favorites have.

This leads me to my favorite author, Cecelia Ahern.  A friend of mine got me hooked on her first book, P.S. I Love You, way before she (or I) knew it was going to be turned into a movie (and a very fine movie at that.)  For this weeks Five Things link-up with The World Around Her and Little Miss Mama, I am ranking my top 5 Cecelia Ahern books.

5. The Time of My Life – “Lucy Silchester has an appointment with her life – and she’s going to have to keep it.”

When I read the synopsis of this book I wasn’t quite sure I could get into it- an envelope arrives at her door and she needs to meet with her “Life.”   I’ve never missed a Cecelia book and this book did not disappoint,  it will get you reflecting upon your own life and the choices you’ve made.    Like all of Ahern’s books, I really had a hard time putting this book down once I started.

4. Where Rainbows End – “Sometimes fate just can’t stop meddling…”

In this book you really get to know the characters Rosie and Alex (and fall in love with them) who are best friends throughout childhood.  Through their choices you start wondering if you made small changes in your life how it would be different and if Rosie and Alex will ever realize they are soul mates and act on it.  A cute romantic book that keeps you wondering until the end how things will wind up for them.

3. Thanks for the Memories – “How can you know someone you’ve never met?”

Thanks for the Memories is a combination of love and suspense and is a very interesting and captivating story.  I won’t spoil it by saying it’s a heart-warming love story with a happy ending and will have you laughing throughout.

2. The Book of Tomorrow – “This is a story about how tomorrow can change what happens today…”

This book is full of suspense, a little bit of magic, and has you surprised at the ending.  It is a bit of a fairytale for a modern world, and I was so engrossed in it that I couldn’t put this book down because you just have to know what happens next!

1. P.S. I Love You – “Some people wait their whole lives to find their soul mates. But not Holly and Gerry.”

This was my first Cecelia Ahern book, and I feel like you could re-read it over and over – which I have.  It is funny, romantic, touching, and sad.  Your emotions are “all over the place,” and a box of tissues must be on-hand for this book. For those of you who have seen the movie I feel like the book is even better, and worth a read.  I was hooked on Cecelia ever since this book, and I love all of her books, but tend to feel nothing will probably ever compare to P.S. I Love You.  It is a must read.

Have you ever read any of Cecelia Ahern’s books?  How does my list compare to your favorites?

Love, Kate

I’ve yet to read any of her books, but they sound like stories I would love! I definitely have one or two on my Goodreads list.

Aww, thanks for linking up again and I still have your two Cecelia Ahern’s books you let me borrow! The Book of Tomorrow was great and I still have to read The Gift.
