I am joining some of my bloggy friends today to bring you a fun DIY Under 5 holiday garland that I am just in love with!
We have a couple small trees around our home that I have never decorated and decided to make a some sweet garland for one of them this year.
This project is so easy to do and I’m thrilled with the outcome. I love how sweet and dainty the garland looks on the tree and is the perfect accent piece for the holidays.
Also, check-out the other handmade holiday ornaments, gifts and diy decor at the bottom of the post too from my bloggy friends!
The supplies you’ll need for this project are:
-approx. 3 feet of yarn
– scrapbooking paper
– tiny clothes pins
After gathering the supplies you’ll want to make your cut-outs first. You can choose any die-cut you’d like. I love this one from Martha Stewart, the hearts are so dainty and the scalloped edges add a sweet touch.
I also kept the inside heart cut-outs to use on the garland… more on that in a bit.
For my garland I used 20 cut-outs.
Aren’t they just so sweet?!
The second step is to gather your small clothespins and yarn.
Now take your cut-outs and clip to the yarn. I did mine about 5 inches apart leaving room for the inside heart cut-out shapes.
Continue clipping each one onto the yarn!
Next, take the small heart cut-outs and add a dab of glue onto the back of each one.
Place them onto the yarn as shown below in between the clipped hearts.
Continue doing for each heart.
You are done!
Now place the garland onto your tree! I added mine onto a small white tinsel tree and it looks fabulous. I love how this project turned out and now I want to make a larger scale version for my big tree.
Some additional after shots.
This garland turned out to be the perfect accent for this tree.

And the final look at night.
