Would you like your child to be inspired by joyous, real-life animal rescue and adoption stories? Studio Fun International has partnered with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA®) to create the educational ASPCA kids: Rescue Readers book series.

These heartwarming and humorous tales from the pet’s point of view will help teach your child the importance of animal care, protection, and love. For every book sold, 4–5 percent of the purchase price goes directly to the ASPCA to help continue it’s mission.

I was selected and I received the ASPCA animal rescue children’s books to review and a fun mix of Studio Fun Int’l books too!  My daughter was so excited when these books arrived.  We both love to read and spend many hours out of our week at our local libraries.  She also keeps asking for a pet, and while a fish (which we have,) is easy to take care of, it’s not necessarily the most fun pet.

We both enjoyed how each story was inspired by a real-life animal rescue story from the pet’s point of view and includes facts and photographs of the actual pet that inspired the story.  Seeing the actual photos of the animals really brought this to life for my daughter.

Each book creates a fun and educational hands-on experience written at a Level 2 reading level for early readers.  They discuss the importance of care, protection, and love of animals into each tale with a focus on the joyous outcome.  Here are some of the awesome books that we were sent!

Out of the five books we received my daughter really loved the “I Am Nibbles” story which follows the adventures of Nibbles, the class guinea pig as he goes home with a student for the summer. It is beautifully illustrated and is perfect for encouraging kids to start reading independently.

And since we won’t be getting a guinea pig or dog anytime soon since my husband is highly allergic to all furry animals, these books are helping to take the place of having a real pet!  Here is one of my daughters favorite pages from the book:

We also read about McKinley and his first day at home with his new family; Daisy, who is one happy cat when she is adopted and leaves the loud dogs at the shelter only to shortly realizes there’s a dog at her new home; Truman, who needs a home and friends come to his aid and start a pet rescue club to help other animals in need; and Picasso, a playful puppy that is adopted by a free-spirited artist and her young son!

My husband also enjoyed reading these with my daughter.  You can see she’s very engaged and closely paying attention to what happens next in the book.

The stories are available in paperback, library binding hardcovers, and e-books. The paperback books are priced at $3.99 (each) or $15.96 (for all four) everywhere books are sold.  You can visit Studio Fun online and also check out their Facebook page here.

Thank you to Moms Meet and Studio Fun for these educational books they are a wonderful addition to our home library!
