For todays post I wanted to tell you a little bit about ReStore Montco and share some photos from a recent visit to their store. Many Habitat for Humanity organizations are opening up similar stores as well and profits help to provide funding for the construction of more Habitat homes.
The Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County ReStore is a large, 8,000 sq. ft. store that sells new and used building materials including appliances, furniture, lighting, flooring, cabinets, tile, carpet, paint, lumber, doors, and more. They also sell knick-knacks, tools, books, pictures, and other household items. The store is open to the public and the prices are discounted.
ReStore collects new and used building materials and remodeling supplies from corporate, individual and small-business donors. These items are kept out of the waste stream and put to new use, saving landfill space and disposal fees.
ReStore donors benefit by saving on disposal fees and receiving a tax-deduction for the donation of usable building supplies. The ReStore benefits the community by conserving landfill space, reducing the cost of home remodeling and repairs and providing more low-income housing.
ReStore also takes individual donations. You can find a list of acceptable donations here.
ReStore is staffed primarily by volunteers… and you’ll see one of favorite volunteers in the photo below, Penny. She’s a sweetheart and works at the ReStore every Wednesday! You’ll also spot some of the items we’ll be using in the Upcycle Challenge.
ReStore Montco is located at 533 Foundry Rd, West Norriton, PA 19403 and is open W-F 9am-5pm and Sat 9am-2pm.
If you’re local pay them a visit and tell them I sent you 🙂
